future garbage by FUTURE GARBAGE
After turning an old Destiny's Child shirt into a denim jacket, I received a lot of requests to make more jackets to sell. But as I started making them, I felt uneasy about creating a fashion brand when there's already so much over-consumption of clothing. I decided that instead of creating a commercial fashion brand, I would create a satirical fashion brand that commented on the ills of the fashion industry.
Using only second-hand clothing (or, garbage), I created 20 pieces of "future garbage" that were each loaded with satirical messages about the fashion industry and general consumerism. Each piece of "future garbage" was branded with a unique hashtag that linked to a custom "propaganda" video that further explored the themes of the piece.
